The City of Sacramento and Thomas Properties Group, LLC shared the same vision and enthusiasm for designing and building one of the largest green buildings in the U.S. The major goal for the project was to build green, yet remain economically competitive. This was achieved by using every available technology, materials, methods and processes in design and construction. The orientation of the building to the sun, different types of glass on those elevations that received the most daylight, energy conservation and recycling are just a few of the design and ongoing items that have helped this building in being LEED™ certified platinum.

The final design for the 950,000 square foot office building would include many amenities that not only conserve resources, but help protect the planet. Some of those include: the use of 736 solar panels, as many as 25 charging stations for electric cars, dedicated indoor bike room for 150 bikes, an aggressive recycling program and the use of green/biodegradable cleaning and maintenance products.

The final stone design included 30,000 square feet of steel truss stone clad panels, 15,000 square feet of site work and 12,000 square feet of interior. The complexity of the work and the construction schedule required double shift work, with crews working during the day and at night. The coordination effort was immense and required CSI to develop and apply new and better ways to communicate the task and keep the project moving.
